The Journey Behind Grivity
Why Grivity Exists
Every organization wants exceptional performance. They invest in leadership training, strategic planning, team retreats, and professional development, yet many still struggle with misalignment, inconsistent execution, ineffective communication, and cultures that don't fully support their goals.
At Grivity, we believe organizational performance doesn't improve because people attend a workshop. It improves when leaders change behaviors, leadership teams become aligned around a shared purpose, and those behaviors become embedded in the culture of the organization.
That's why we don't begin with a predetermined curriculum. We begin by understanding your people, your leadership team, your challenges, and your goals. From leadership development and executive coaching to team effectiveness offsites and immersive Grivity Expeditions, every engagement is designed to meet your organization where it is today and help move it toward where it wants to be tomorrow.
Meet the Founder
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of leading in environments where leadership isn't theoretical—it directly impacts people's lives.
I began my career in law enforcement, serving in a variety of leadership roles and eventually leading high-risk operations. Those experiences reinforced a lesson that has stayed with me ever since: leadership isn't defined by title or authority. It's measured by your ability to build trust, communicate with clarity, make sound decisions under pressure, and help people perform at their best when the stakes are highest.
That passion for leadership led me to pursue advanced leadership education, including the Sherman Block Leadership Institute, the FBI National Academy, and a Master's Degree in Leadership. Along the way, my focus expanded beyond developing individual leaders to understanding how leadership teams, organizational culture, strategy, and organizational systems influence performance. I became fascinated not only with what makes great leaders effective, but with what makes entire organizations thrive.
Today, I bring together experiences from multiple worlds. In healthcare, I lead initiatives focused on human performance, leadership development, organizational culture, and high reliability. As an instructor with UC Merced Extension, I design and teach leadership programs, including Emotional Intelligence for Leaders, while helping develop future leaders across a variety of industries. Throughout my consulting work, I partner with executive teams to improve alignment, strengthen trust, facilitate meaningful conversations, and build cultures that support sustained performance.
Outside of work, you'll usually find me somewhere in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Backpacking, horseback packing, fly fishing, and time spent guiding wilderness trips have shaped my perspective on leadership just as much as my professional experiences. The wilderness has a way of stripping away distractions and reminding us that trust, preparation, communication, resilience, and teamwork aren't just leadership concepts—they're necessities. Those experiences inspired the creation of the Grivity Expedition, an immersive leadership experience designed to help teams reconnect, align, and grow together in an environment where meaningful conversations happen naturally.
Grivity was built around a simple belief: organizations don't become high-performing because they complete another training program. They become high-performing because leaders change behaviors, leadership teams become aligned, and those behaviors become the foundation of organizational culture.
Every engagement is designed with that purpose in mind. If I don't believe an engagement will create meaningful, lasting impact for your organization, I'll tell you. My goal has never been to deliver another workshop. It's to help leaders and teams create the kind of lasting change that improves performance long after the engagement ends.
